I cant even remember the last time I uploaded a video here, but when I saw who Governor DeSantis had recruited to pass out the pens at the signing ceremony for his latest legislation, I thought I'd do a public service by editing-out the political rhetoric, and cut right to the best part of the whole event. Most of my videos were created for my extended family in Florida, as well as all my music-luvin' subscribers, even though I didn't add a soundtrack for this one). I hope y'all enjoy it.
(PS: I hope we can all agree to leave politics out of the comments. And just a reminder, this channel never was an never will be monetized. I've asked YT not to use it for ads, but they've made it clear ...

This is Their Land -- Let's Keep it Safe, Sound and Free

These are all our children, from California, to the New York Island. I'm posting this just as a reminder to all of us, we're stewards of this great country, not owners, and it's our obligation to leave it to them in just a little better shape than when we took over from our parents.

My video is just an homage to this brilliant work. It's not even a remix, it simply adds one subtle layer to a masterpiece of the surreal. Thanks to the composer Melodysheep for this music.

Great Scenes: Waltzing Matilda Finale
Просмотров 375 тыс.15 лет назад
In the 1959 Stanley Kramer film "On the Beach", composer Ernest Gold adapted the music for Waltzing Matilda in a variety of motifs throughout the movie, culminating with a valiant theme as the doomed American submarine crew heads for home. We hear it again as "Taps" in the final apocalyptic scene in the deserted streets of Melbourne, blended with it's ominous companion throughout, the ticking o...
Great Scenes: Of Human Bondage

One of Bette Davis greatest (and earliest) performances, her 1934 portrayal of predatory waitress Mildred Rogers was passed over by the Academy for a Best Actress nomination, only to precipitate a write-in campaign by her colleagues who recognized the talents of the young actress. The film's star, Leslie Howard, had insisted that Davis get the part, over the objections of the British producers ...

Ordinary Heroes - Lenny Skutnik

On January 13th, 1982, Air Florida flight 90 crashed into the ice-covered waters of the Potomac River. Only six of the 74 passengers survived the crash, and all six were clinging to the wreckage of the plan's tail section in the freezing water of the Potomac. Due to the icy conditions, it was impossible for rescuers on the shore to reach the stranded survivors. Then, at 4:20pm, 19 minutes after...

Five days after Lee's surrender at Appomattox, on Good Friday, April 14th, 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theater. The following day, the City of New York mourns under dark skies. What an absolute genius Richard Rodgers was. The bridge between the verses has a downwards scale that goes down almost an octave but the key shifts up a semitone. One of the best songs of all time.

When I was a child I thought this song was literally about the mountains Maria loved. Now as an adult, I can fully appreciate how the song is about the advice she is being given. I also appreciate the way it was filmed. The character singing is usually in shadow or back turned while Maria is in the light. For it's Maria's reaction to the advice that is the importance of the scene and in my opinion saves the captain. If Maria hadn't returned, Elsa would not have been as supportive to him in the nazi escape and would not have been the mother the children needed. Can you see Baroness Schraeder fleaing by foot in this movie? I can't. His true love returned in time thanks to the wise words in this scene.

First serious movie I saw. I was 10 years old. Fantastic cast and performance. Memorable but in retrospect off the mark on how nuclear war will end. Radiation not the greatest threat due to its half-life. Without a few weeks you could venture outside again, especially if you were not in a target area. Biggest threat would be your fellow man looking for food and willing to kill to get it.
